Germany dug deep at BMO Field in Toronto to come from behind and beat Ivory Coast 2-1, Deniz Undav's brace ensuring Julian Nagelsmann's side topped Group E and booked their place in the round of 32 with a game to spare.

Kessié punishes the favourites

Ivory Coast struck first and deservedly so, Franck Kessié finishing on 30 minutes to put the African side ahead and silence the German support. The Elephants were organised and dangerous on the break, threatening to spring a major upset and leave the group wide open heading into the final round of fixtures.

Undav turns the tide

Germany pressed for the equaliser and found it through Undav on 68 minutes, the forward levelling to shift the momentum decisively. With extra time ticking away, Undav struck again in the 94th minute to snatch all three points in dramatic fashion. The win confirmed Germany as group winners, while Ivory Coast were left to regroup before a decisive final-day clash with Curaçao.
