Japan and Sweden meet in Group F decider with knockout places on the line. Meridian world.

Group F reaches its conclusion when Japan meet Sweden at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on 25 June, with the shape of the knockout bracket riding on the result. Japan arrive on four points, level with the Netherlands, after a battling draw with the Dutch and a commanding win over Tunisia.

Recent form

Japan have been the group's most consistent side, pressing with intensity and converting their chances ruthlessly, as Ayase Ueda's brace against Tunisia showed. Sweden, despite a five-goal opening rout of Tunisia powered by Yasin Ayari and Alexander Isak, were exposed defensively in their 5-1 loss to the Netherlands and now need a positive result to be sure of advancing.

Prediction

Sweden's attacking talent, fronted by Isak and Viktor Gyokeres, makes them dangerous, but their defensive frailties against quality opposition are a concern. Japan's organisation and tempo should prove decisive in a tight contest. Prediction: Japan 2-1 Sweden, with the Samurai Blue edging top spot.
