Mohamed Salah inspires Egypt to historic first World Cup win over New Zealand
The Pharaohs came from behind in Vancouver, Salah scoring and assisting as Egypt claimed a maiden World Cup victory in their 92-year history.

Egypt finally have their place in World Cup history. Trailing at the break in Vancouver, the Pharaohs produced a stirring second-half comeback to beat New Zealand 3-1 at BC Place and record the nation's first win at the tournament in 92 years.
Surman stuns the Pharaohs
It was New Zealand who struck first, Finn Surman rising to head home from a 15th-minute set piece to give the All Whites a deserved half-time lead in front of 52,497 supporters. Egypt looked rattled, but the introduction of greater urgency after the interval transformed the contest.
Salah leads the comeback
Mostafa Ziko levelled in the 58th minute, and nine minutes later talisman Mohamed Salah swept in his first goal of the tournament, the 68th of his international career. Trezeguet added late insurance in the 82nd minute to make it 3-1 and spark jubilant celebrations among the Egyptian contingent.
The victory lifted Egypt to four points and the top of Group G, leaving New Zealand needing a final-day miracle to progress.
